From Steep Slope to Stunning Escape on Audubon Park Drive
Every backyard presents its own set of challenges—and opportunities. When the homeowners on Audubon Park Drive in Magnolia came to Hummingbird Pools, they had a vision: a fun and functional space for entertaining family and friends. What stood between them and their dream? A dramatically sloped yard and a serious need for creative problem-solving.
The Challenge
Their backyard had a steep incline, making it difficult to build a functional pool area. To create a safe, level space, we had to install retaining walls and remove a significant portion of the backyard—ultimately sinking the yard three feet to eliminate the drop-off behind the pool.
Our Solution
Once the groundwork was stabilized, we brought their vision to life with new pool construction, featuring a sleek, modern design with travertine throughout. One of the most unique elements was a custom-built grotto—not just for aesthetics, but with a top ledge designed for seating, giving the space a resort-style feel. A tanning ledge inside the pool added another relaxing feature for lounging and sunbathing.
The Result
This project turned a previously unusable slope into a luxurious and inviting entertainment zone. The end result is not only visually stunning, but fully functional for a family that loves to host.
Even after navigating some technical issues with chillers during the process, we worked closely with the homeowners to make sure everything was handled properly. They were thrilled with the final outcome, and their transformed backyard is now a place they’re proud to share with others.
